Ferrari 488 Review
Ferrari is known for its super-fast exotic machines that command awe, respect and of course loads of love. Their newest prancing horse is the 488 GTB, the successor of the legendary 458 Italia and the first welterweight Ferrari to have a turbocharged petrol engine.
Like always, the 488 has been penned down by Pininfarina and the Italian design house has made sure the 488 is a step ahead of the 458. Obviously, it is low slung, gets a wedge-like hood and a large air dam to make sure it takes as much air in as possible. The raked windshield, the large scoops on the side and the pronounced fenders add to the curves while the quad tail lamp setup is signature Ferrari.
Inside, things are luxurious by sportscar standard and it is upholstered in pure leather. You get the usual bits like AC, power windows, power mirrors et al, but the prime focus is on speed and the driver. You have a whole set of buttons to tinker with the car setup from the suspension to the engine, steering et al.
Under the hood is the turbocharged 3.9-litre petrol V8 which produces 661bhp of power mated to a seven-speed Getrag automatic unit. The brakes have been derived from the La Ferrari and gets the all-new five-spoke alloy wheel design. It does 0-100kmph sprint in 3 seconds on its way to a top-speed of over 330kmph.
The Ferrari 488GTB competes with the likes of the Lamborghini Huracan, the Maserati GT, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the Nissan GTR.
Ferrari 488 Verdict
The Ferrari 488 is a great amalgamation of a mid-positioned turbocharged V8 motor that shows-off great composure on the track. This undeniably makes for what we believe, is a lovely supercar that deserves the 'prancing horse' logo every bit.
